The Golden Rule & Narrow Way
Pastor Jonathan Vorce breaks down the Golden Rule from Matthew 7 and shows how it fulfills the Sermon on the Mount. A teaching on the narrow gate, false prophets, and building your life on the rock.
In this message, Jonathan Vorce walks through the closing verses of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 7:12-29, and unpacks what separates Jesus' version of the Golden Rule from every other religion's version of it. Most faiths teach a negative form (don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you). Jesus flips it positive: actively do for others what you want done for you.
From there the message moves into three warnings Jesus gives right after the Golden Rule:
- The narrow gate vs. the wide gate, and why surrender and repentance are the entry point into the kingdom
- How to recognize false prophets by their fruit, not their charisma, gifts, or miracles
- The wise builder and the foolish builder, and why hearing the word isn't enough without doing it
This is a message about how we treat one another, why it matters more than we think, and the choice every person has to make between the way of the flesh and the way of the kingdom.
